I walked into the 4th Floor of Bishop Magua Centre, Ngong Rd today looking for iHub. I had heard of iHub on NTV and once saw Larry Madowo host the Trend TV show at iHub. Never did I think I will find myself seated next to Melissa, who I have just met, beside the retractable window at iHub until Musyoka sent me a Yusudi invite on Personal Branding. When you get to my age it becomes so easy to get used to the same old routines but I was determined to do something new to spice up my otherwise predictable life.
Flash, flash as both of us smile am surprised by the simplicity of the fashion designer whose #KondoUdo Collection is featured on Vogue Italia, Anyango Mpinga. “You have to progressively incorporate good helpers who you sure understand your brand” her advise to me on scaling up. A nice looking black helmet resting on the panelist’s purple and blue seat was beside Patricia Kihoro, she is definitely a biker. A day before a group of her friends was on TV doing improvising comedy and thats all i knew of her. She is a singer, writer, actress, radio personality who made me understand that success comes from doing what you love from within and crowds are ready to pay their time and money daily to watch you perform your craft.
Attending this event was the richest experience I have heard in a long time and my pursuit for success was energised as I listened to peoples experience for morning till 5pm. It wasnt just discovering that Wanjiru was tasting KFC chicken for the first time but also meeting a Sandra a university student wondering how to set up a paypal account after submiting her ebook trilogue Dissociate on lulu.
The quickest way to experience something new involves introducing a new thing in your life. The quickest way to strengthen your resolve to move towards success is listening to stories of people who have made it. People, books, food, location, music, films are all diets. Your current level of operation is a product of the current diet. The aspirations you have for your next level of experience will be unlocked through a deliberate change to the calibre of diet you presently enjoy.
- Choose to hang out with people who can stretch you and make you feel intimidated by their success.
- Read books on topics you thought are hard to understand but you feel are important in your plan.
- Upgrade to a hang out location that is at least one step above your current. If you know everyone who visits your hangout, it’s time to move.
- Plan to visit a neighbourhood, supplier, clothing shop, airline, company that you always think is unreachable to you.
No one ever changed without acquiring some toughness to confront their present.
I love the article! Great work Lenny.
